It commemorates the return of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, to Ayodhya after a 14-year of exile. We do Lakshmi pooja the deity of wealth, prosperity, and abundance, to seek her blessings for the coming year. It symbolizes inviting divine favor into homes and businesses, fostering spiritual and material well-being through rituals like lighting diyas, and offering prayers and sweets to the goddess.
