Pitru Paksha is a period of 15 days during which Hindus pay respect and homage to their ancestors. According to religious beliefs, Shradh performed on these days pleases the souls of all ancestors of the family. The last day of Pitru Paksha is known as Sarvapitra Amavasya or Mahalya Amavasya.
